Are you familiar with eye gels? Today, I’m reviewing one of them from Estelle & Thild.

2. The product
The Refreshing Eye Gel (available for shopping here) is described as a lightweight eye gel that moisturizes and protects the sensitive eye area. It contains Liquorice (glycyrrhiza glabra root extract in the ingredient list below) which can help reduce swelling (depuffing) and darkness under the eyes as well as Hyaluronic acid and grapefruit exract (citrus paradisi fruit extract) to provide the skin with vitamins and moisture.
It is suitable for all skin type and is Ecologically certified.
Packaging: It comes in a standard 15ml container. The gel is dispensed via a pump.
Instructions: After cleaning, apply a small amount around the eyes.

* Ingredient from Organic Farming
99,899 % of total ingredients are from natural origin. 23,348 % % of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming.
From left to right of the ingredient list:
- Aloe Vera (aloe barbadensis leaf juice) is known for its hydration, wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties,
- Glycerin is a humectant, meaning that it attracts water from the surrounding and helps keep that moisture in the skin. It is also naturally found in the skin,
- grapefruit extract (citrus paradisi fruit extract) is marketed as a vitamin provider (which one is not indicated on the packaging, but it might be Vitamin C),
- Hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) brings and maintains hydration to the skin,
- Liquorice (glycyrrhiza glabra root extract) may reduce swelling (depuffing) and darkness under the eyes.
3. Why I chose that product
I bought it at Sephora, a while back. They don’t seem to carry the brand any more on their French website. I chose it because I had never encountered the brand before, and I remember that some of their products were on sale.
4. My thoughts
The packaging is really cute and the pump works very well (the packaging is part of the user experience, right 🙂 !).
The eye gel is hydrating but I only use it during hot days as it is very light. It smells a bit citrusy which I like.
As a result, I unfortunately don’t see any reduction of the swelling under the eyes and the darkness hasn’t changed.
What I liked: I can tell that the under eye area is hydrated after application, and I enjoy the texture and the citrusy scent of the gel. I also like the practical packaging.
What I didn’t: It doesn’t quickly penetrate into the skin, although I daily apply a quantity of a rice grain, so I have to massage it for a while. I can’t tell any difference before and after using it.
Would I repurchase it? No, as I have found better (but not cheaper).
My rate: 3.5/5, a decent eye gel coming with a very pleasant user experience.
